There are definitely gullible Gene/Paul followers, like risingtard. But I recall the 80's vividly. There's no way Vinnie saved Kiss in the 80's, because Kiss was never saved in the 80's. They had minor blips - taking off the makeup, Heaven's On Fire, Forever - but they were basically a non-entity. The concerts were more than half empty, the records barely recouped if they were lucky, and their label mates were outperforming them mercilessly. Would Unmasked, Elder, Killers, Creatures, Lick It Up, Animalize, Asylum, Crazy Night, HITS combined equal the sales of Slippery When Wet or Pyromania? Chucky is so far out in left field thinking Kiss had major success in the 80's, and is even more delusional believing it was because of himself. I disagree. KISS was a moderate success in 80's. They were on MTV and the radio. Their albums were going gold. Diamond albums aren't a realistic benchmark.
The NoblemanThis idiot has a point.
I know KISS themselves were unhappy with their level of sales/success, but they beat the shit out of most of their 70s counterparts. Arena tours the entire time and gold albums or better.
Foghat, Frampton, Sabbath, BOC, Styx, Nugent, etc couldnt hold a candle to their success.
Ozzy, Smiff, and ACDC did better, but Kiss held their own, for being dinosaurs.

We Just Disagree - Dave Mason.
I saw pretty much every 80's Kiss tour and they were bloodbaths attendance wise.
Looked at through modern eyes, when modern rock bands barely register a blip, gold and platinum albums seem impressive.
But at the time, compared to not only Def Leppard and Bon Jovi, look at the sales figures of Van Halen, Van Hagar, Crue, Ratt, G n R, Poison, Whitesnake, etc. And other 70's acts managed blockbuster 80's albums, including Yes, ZZ Top, Scorpions, and Aerosmith, multiple times.
It was rock's moment on top of the mountain, and Kiss, despite leading the charge in the 70's, was hanging on for dear life.
And musically they were way behind - Lick it Up benefited from the makeup coming off, but is a lame song that sounds like a third grader wrote it (nothing against third graders).
But even the success they had - I do not think Vinnie Vincent was the reason for it.

Yeah even in the 70s heyday none of their albums were multiplatinum sellers - their success model was recording and touring constantly to keep the machine greased. Whatever VV did saved them from obscurity after 3 flat albums and failed tours. His mistake was thinking he should have entered the partnership, but Chaim and Stan didn't agree.

And KISS people have KISS issues.
They were in the magazines, and their videos ranked on Dial MTV. According to wikipedia, Lick It Up, Animalize, and Crazy Nights were certified platinum. They put the X in sex.
I never saw KISS live in the 80's, 90's, or 00's. I'm a casual KISS guy. I know and appreciate KISS, but I'm not a KISS person, so to say. I don't have KISS issues. I don't really care either way. Were they Bon Jovi? No, but they were bigger than LA Guns, Faster Pussycat, Helix, Danger Danger, and any number of also-rans of the era.
They may not have been selling out every show, but they were consistently booking arena tours throughout the 80's.
Gene and Paul were on Oprah talking about slaying pussy, and that's no bullshit.
Did Vinnie have something to do with that? Yes, I believe s/he did. Huey thinks so too. S/he gave the band's creativity a good kick in the tuchis, and for that s/he deserves credit.

The NoblemanJust to clarify - I was big into the scene in the 80's and went to all the concerts, including Kiss. The tickets were cheap to begin with and darned-near comped close to show date. At guitar sites, Vinnie Vincent is literally never mentioned, and I doubt anyone even knows who he is. Yet at kissfaq, he's a demigod and somehow saved a band that despite being massively successful prior, we fighting tooth and nail to stay afloat? I'll move on, but will commend you and Ron. That Sammy Hagar thread is epic. Odin and Aces still going at it, other kisstards getting their feathers ruffled, and lots of oddball stuff. Keep it up! Doesn't look like either of you are stepping outside the lines, so keep it up. No need to commit kissfaq suicide.

That he's got that kind of tenure indicates it's a pretty permissive place. Probably a lot fewer transgender fatfuck Zoomers that need coddling mod protection than a place like Metal Archives.
My initial impression is you'd have to work pretty hard to get banned. We'll see. I won't try to get banned. Post what you want to post, and if you get banned, you get banned. That's the best approach.

The Nobleman Yes, and no. I've been poking around, and yes, kiss fans are definitely rock and roll's equivalent to star trek/star wars fans. Apparently aces full was banned, but begged and pleaded his way back. So there's no telling how many more posts he'd have; he obviously loves kiss. Here's his post announcing his triumphant return, with more than a couple of attempts at propping himself up by referring to those who allegedly don't like him. Thanks for the update. I hadn't been lurking there the last couple of days, but your posts were great. Bringing up Hagar was very strategic as Odin hates him and Aces loves him.
I did read somewhere that new user fangface is Klown, who has been countless names on Sludge - Purple Idiot, among them?

Micheal Bolton helped Kiss more than Vinnie. They got their first Pop hit in a long time in 1990.

Blah, Blah, Blah... And musically they were way behind - Lick it Up benefited from the makeup coming off, but is a lame song that sounds like a third grader wrote it (nothing against third graders). But even the success they had - I do not think Vinnie Vincent was the reason for it. Blah, Blah, Blah... Yes, but LIU also allowed for Pauline's ability to craft a spoken word comedy monologue intro to the song on the Hot in the Shade tour that showed Pauline's ability to masterfully perform both music and comedy. My aunt took me to this tours stop in Jax, FL and I found it much more amusing as a teenager than she did. HA, Ha Pauline with a vagina in his mouth! As if! I mean let's be real, if Pauline ever had a vagina in his mouth, it was probably just because he got bicurious or had his mothers in his mouth because he came out of her with his future dick sucking orifice open. He even managed to make it still relevant and added another level to this old comedy routine song intro this week with his dickgirls tweet. Without Vinnie we would never of had this great comedic moment in Kisstory! He should have done a stand-up comedy tour instead of that Pole Station thing.
Is that a fleshlight attached to his mic stand?
