Sometimes u just get lucky.
Dokken was fantastic last night at a new venue.
Bulletboys - Marq Torien is fun and has some DLR personality in him. They played for an hour. Had a guitar solo and a drum solo which was kinda dumb.
Dokken - Awesome. Dokken himself said this was one of the last shows for a while and he wanted to give us a great and long show. He delivered. He was in a lower register but he belted out the tunes, held a LOT of notes, & didn't mail it in at all. Introduced just about every song and told a backstory for most of 'em. Played all old shit including a few deep cuts. Nothin' after Dysfunctional. All heavy shit other than Alone Again. Had the new album cover on the big screens above the band. Was really cool with some dragon and fire blazes and shit. Only bad thing was Dokken didn't even mention they had a new record and they didnt play any of the new tunes that are out. The musicianship was excellent, drummer does great background vocals, the bassist voice is annoying as shit but it kinda helps to give a high pitch to the vocals and shit. They played a solid hour & forty minutes. Neither band sold any merch. Kinda dumb since u have a new record comin' out. Booking agent told me it somehow got forgotten. John Levin now has big poofy curly hair instead of the sleek straight hair. There is nothin' like Levin hitting the stage, winding up, and ripping into Kiss of Death. Dokken's air guitar and air drumming was hilarious. He walks like an 80 yr old now, very slow with a limp, and has somebody help him up the stairs to get on stage.
Less than 500 people in there but felt fuller than that. Some decent pussy in there but not a lot. Lotta geriatric people in these 80s crowds now. Kinda like what a Yes or Moody Blues crowd looked like 15 years ago. Saw some people with MORC shirts.
Bonus info: Warrant played the same place a couple weeks ago, they also had less than 500 people there. Puddle of Mudd played there in the summer, they had about 250.
On the way home, stopped at a gas station to get a snack. I wanted Grandma's cookies, but couldnt find any. I asked the dude working there and he pointed at some plant-based cookies. I told him those are not Grandma's cookies, u work at a gas station, u should know what Grandma's cookies are. He had no idea what I was talkin' about. Went across the street to a different gas station, and they had Grandma's cookies. Yummy.
