Back when I was an +INDUSTRY INSIDER+ I interviewed Ash. That was around the time of their one hit. I don't recall the song. I do recall them being a semi-big-deal as part of the Britpop wave. Bigger than Ned's Atomic Dustbin. Not as big as Supergrass. Something like that. Dull interview until I asked them, I did, "What's 7x8?" And boy, they sprang to life, and energetically competed with each other to be the Ash Master of Multiplication.

Here in Europe they had a string of hits, the biggest of which was probably Oh Yeah, that must be the one you're thinking of. They arrived a bit late to be part of the Brit Pop wave, which hit hard around 1994 and 1995. Did you ever find out what 7x8 is? I can ask around you want.
