I have enjoyed music from Robert Jon & the Wreck and Aryon Jones...

I too had that Popa Chubby CD 30-odd years ago and was a fan. I like dirty blues. I didn't keep up with his subsequent indie releases. In the early 2010s I downloaded all of them, but never got around to playing any of them. Any of those good? Stand out songs? Songs that stand out even though he's too fat to stand up?

Not really. His releases got increasingly generic and he's been on auto-pilot for a long time now. But he still kills live.

That's disappointing. The debut stood out amidst all the Blues Bureau/Verve/Alligator/Black Top mulch at the time. I was hoping for more hot poppin' tracks about big ass booty.

I think the (artistic) success of that album was largely due to Tom Dowd, who produced it. There's some good stuff in his output, don't get me wrong. But nothing that rises above the whole swarm of blooze-rock guitar slingers that we're constantly inundated with.

Would love to. Last time he played Paris I was out of town...
