Saw Malmsteen once. 1990. Still have my autographed stub. I stopped giving a fuck after Goran Edman was fired.

I would love to go to Hellfest one of these days. Especially this year, where they crammed three years worth of festivals into 7 days (I think).
But to actually make the trek down there, live in a tent among the hairy drunk metalheads for several days, not shower, pee in a hole in the ground, have shitty death metal blasting 24/7 just so you can catch a glimpse of one of your favorite bands from three miles away with a ten second sound delay, well that just doesn't sound very appealing to me. I'm just old I guess.
If I could stay in a nice hotel (not even a great one, but clean and comfy, with a pool) then make my way to the first third of the audience for every band I care about, and only the bands I care about, then go back to my room, I might. But this fest seems like Hell to me. I just don't have it in me.
The crowd is a big turn-off: metal heads are very nice, polite people but they smell. And they drink. And they yell. And they vomit and they piss all over.
And then having to sit through a shitload of shitty black metal from Moldavia in order to maybe see Malevolent Creation perform 25 minutes on a small stage in daylight, all the while missing Cheap Trick on the main stage because the place is at capacity... Not worth the ticket price.
So, short answer, no, I don't think us French people on the board were there. I know I wasn't. But it must've been cool, Coverdale (lack of) voice notwithstanding.

Box is a weird term for pussy but I guess I can see where it comes from. I mean, you can put things in a box, like you can put things in a vagina. So why not? Still, I find it weird and I don't think I'm alone.

So, short answer, no, I don't think us French people on the board were there. I know I wasn't. I wasn't either, namely because of all the reasons you mentioned. I went once, for one single day, prolly 10 or 15 years ago, because I'd never seen Mötley Crüe before and thought this would be my last chance (little did I know I would then see them in the comfort of Paris and in L.A. during their "final" tour). Too many people, indeed. At least I lucked out in terms of the bands I saw in one late afternoon/evening: Mötley (giggles), W.A.S.P., Heaven & Hell, Danthrax (!), Down...and Fuckcherry (or maybe it was Papa Roach, whatever). Back on topic, sucks Vai didn't do any DLR material. After looking at his setlist I don't think I would have gone if it was free. Malmsteen, on the other hand, is killer live, I'd love to see him again! With the band shoved into the left corner of the stage to leave more room for GOD!

Why the fuck would Vai do DLR songs? If that's what you wanted to hear, you should've bought a ticket in 86 or 88...
