Cool evening of traditional (some would say retro) Metal with occult leanings at Petit Bain. All bands on the bill are from Germany so if you're expecting any subtlety, you're out of luck. Thankfully, the Germans are also efficient, and their Heavy Metal is no exception. I missed the first band The Night Eternal but caught Attic, who bring back the schlocky satanic thrills of Mercyful Fate, complete with make-up, falsetto vocals and dual lead guitars. A lot of fun, and a lot of dry ice which made them unshootable from my vantage point (I'm not bringing my camera in that pit again, not after Suffocation earlier this month). You can check out my full review, some crappy pics and a short video HERE. https://www.instagram.com/p/C3fZCXsNhEv Lucifer was the evening's headliner, and the first surprise was that Nicke Andersson from Hellacopters and Entombed was on drums. Apparently he's married to the singer! Second surprise was how much fun it was. A lot less Heavy than the previous band, they were more of a Hard Rock act in the vein of Blue Öyster Cult or proto-Metal outfits like Iron Butterfly and Blue Cheer. They also have that satanic schtick, but it's clearly tongue-in-cheek, like Ghost on a budget. Check out my full review, shitty pics (again, lots of smoke) and a short (but pretty cool) video HERE. https://www.instagram.com/p/C3fZN0_tp_w

I've enjoyed Lucifer in the past. Especially the singer's ability to fill out a pair of faux-leather pants in some of the videos. She may have matured out of that now. Good band.
