Who's Randy Rhoades?? I guess I'll be the asshole, but that really wasn't mind-blowing or anything, even for the time. I agree with this, and I'm a big Rhoads fan. There was an interview with George Lynch a while back in which he basically said the alleged Eddie/Randy rivalry on the Sunset Strip never happened. Eddie was the big star of the scene and everyone, including Randy, was in his shadow. The dates corroborate this. This clip is from 1979, the year the second Van Halen album came out. You can hear multiple Van-Halenisms Randy is attempting. He just hadn't mastered them the way Eddie had at this time. |
