That was a cool magazine, with lots of attention devoted to metal, hair and otherwise.
Guitar Player did feature Eddie countless times. How could they not? And Warren DeMartini and other hair metal players made their cover. It was the biggest thing at the time.
But GP, like Rolling Stone, still seemed a bit Boomer-centric. Guitar For the Practicing Musician had a younger focus, at least to my recollection.
Queensryche got their victory lap with Empire, right at the buzzer. While not hair metal (though they did numerous tours with hair bands), their brand of rock wasn't going to fly alongside alternative rock.

I remember they were billing themselves as "the alternative to alternative" or something like that. I thought it was cool at the time.
