He had horrible stage fright. He hated touring and playing live. He said in an interview he made more money writing commercial jingles and other music for TV.

As the 80's progressed, rock went in two opposite directions - mainstream, and underground. Hair metal was fully embraced by the mainstream and thrash built a following underground.
There were some solid acts from the early 80's that didn't fit squarely in either, and faded. Aldo Nova, Billy Squier, Quarterflash, even Loverboy.
But like with Billy Squier making a fortune from The Stroke being sampled, Aldo Nova has writing credits with Celine Dion on some massive albums.
So it's not like he ever had to pump gas.

JBJ had a label that put out an album from him in '91. It flopped. Most fans didn't remember him.

Box is a weird term for pussy but I guess I can see where it comes from. I mean, you can put things in a box, like you can put things in a vagina. So why not? Still, I find it weird and I don't think I'm alone.

He wrote my favourite BOC song (Take Me Away), he deserves to be rich and lazy.

Owned the debut on cassette. Only good song was Fantasy. Borrowed the follow up. Zero good songs.
His good songs to shit ratio is worse than Motley’s!

Fantasy was one of those songs that was good but could have been great with a killer guitar solo...

Fantasy was one of those songs that was good but could have been great with a killer guitar solo... Yes, that was one of the things as the decade progressed. The over-the-top, flashy lead playing became de rigeur, and the bluesy, bendy older approach was out of fashion. Eddie, Randy, Jake, Lynch, DeMartini, Vai, etc. were on lots of big records. Even Robben Crosby, who was a decent lead player, gradually was relegated to rhythm guitar. The other drawback to Fantasy is that overly long intro.

Yeah that whole early 80s keyb-rock hybrid sound was huge for a year or two and then it sank like a stone. See also Night Ranger. Does anyone remember Saga?

I was young at the time and wasn't compelled to buy a Saga record; but I never changed the station when On the Loose was on MTV. While not totally similar, I also remember Stone Fury getting some MTV play. I never became a fan, but did like this song:

Aldo Nova did get to tour as Cyndi Lauper's guitarist in 1986 (Rick Derringer as well).
Aldo even got to take the keyboard solo in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, at the 4:00 mark:
