What's YOUR ranking?
This is tuff, I'm torn between Shout and Cellar for the top spot.
1. Shout / Cellar 3. Too Fast 4. Tooth and Nail 5. Great White debut 6. Theater 7. Invasion 8. Under Lock and Key 9. Girls Girls Girls 10. Metal Health

Feel free to broaden the subject, but that was the premise of the video: Mötley Crüe, Ratt, Dokken, Great White, Quiet Riot and their 80's output.

I'm as shocked as you that W.A.S.P. didn't make the list, that would have made for a more coherent list.

OK, but if we make a top ten of that entire scene (let's narrow it down to the 80's) then I think we should implement a rigorous method:
A/ We need to define the scene: is it just L.A. or California? Or do Skid Row and Bon Jovi count as well? Are foreign bands excluded, or can one vote for, say, the 80's version of Whitesnake? B/ I think we should only allow one album per artist.
Or not, what do I know?

If you're just gonna do anything that was influenced by the LA scene then that would be too broad. After Van Halen, the influence was national. Cinderella and Poison aren't technically from LA but have some of the same style elements.

Any band that was signed without traveling to LA first should not be considered an LA band. That's the bare minimum.

Me?
Let's see here. Hold on. I need to pee.
Okay.
Now I need to respond to that DemonFilth2001 alt on Chives.
Hold on.
Okay. I'm back.
OB DISCLAIMER: OB never listened to the Great White albums. OB never heard Dokken albums 1 and 4. All the Quiet Riot albums OB has ever heard are shit but for the singles.
1. Shout at the Devil
2. Too Fast for Love
3. Out of the Cellar
4. Tooth and Nail
And down from there.
PS - Popoff is wrong about "Rock Me." That song is awesome.
