I find footage like this intriguing, as there is a palpable youthful innocence; and everyone looks vibrant and healthy.
Of course a whirlwind of events would soon take place, commercially and personally.
AIC was opening for Van Halen, and you can even see Eddie's Frankenstein cabs by Jerry Cantrell.
Not long after, grunge took over, AIC released the monster-selling Dirt, bassist Mike Starr would be dismissed, as the band's popularity grew, Layne Staley fell deeper into addiction.
Staley later died, his last visitor Starr followed Staley's wishes and didn't call 911; he blamed himself and later died of his own addictions.
But for a fleeting moment in 1991, it all seemed so promising.
They play Would around 6:13.

I saw this tour. It was interesting how they were heckled then but were the heroes of Lollapalooza 93 2 years later.

I know the Clash of the Titans crowds were rough on them. I have the AIC albums, but in viewing some old live clips, I'm thinking the heckling was as much because they weren't that strong or polished live. If memory serves, despite selling massive quantities of records, they never established themselves as arena headliners. Though the drugs might have had something to do with that. They also looked a bit more poser-ish than I recalled.

It wasn't till 91 that they went Gold because of Man In The Box. They weren't at Platinum level until Dirt came out in 92. It was probably difficult to find bands to tour with that were similar to them in 90-91 and also at Platinum level.

I liked AIC.
Never saw them live. However, I've played shows with a few AIC tributes. Doesnt matter how good they are, it always goes down like a lead balloon. That AIC sound is antithetical to the "go out, party, have a good time" vibe.
They prolly did well if they headlined and it was their crowd. Or if they wrre on a bill with other grunge.
Pair them with Slayer/MD/Thrax? Or Van halen? No fucking way.
AIC live is "Dont have a good time rock"

They just hit like a ton of bricks in 93... everyone was moshing. Blew the "headliner" Primus off the stage.
